Walking in Love: What you need and what the world need

love between two couples

Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. -Mother Teresa
When we are told to walk in love what often come to our mind is why should we walk in love, the world hasn't done much for me, most people don't really care about me so why should I show love to these people. You can never unlock your full strength and abilities if you don't walk in love. People who create legacies only set their legacy through their love walk. Life's journey is much easier when we work in love and we can only fulfill our potentials when we walk in love.

Most times in life, the world often despise people who show them love. The world considers people walking in love as being weak and they are often prosecuted and taken for granted. What happens at the end is that their love walk pays dividends. Being great is not about fulfilling your needs alone, its about taking a bigger step and fulfilling the needs of others. Most people at first run away from love but end up coming back when they see the love continues and the love shown to them is genuine. What people really need is love. When people have what they want they no longer want what they have because material things are only short time fix. The hidden desire of everyone is love. Walking in love heals you and then heals the world through you.

Walking in love is the only lasting solution. Walking in love is the permanent fix to your problems and the world problems. The world awaits you to start your love walk. Success awaits you when you walk and act in love. When you walk in love you see people’s problem and solutions to their problem. When you walk in love you are destined for greatness.

What Really Matters: Being Yourself

Free girl walking on a beach

A lot of emphasis has been made on being yourself but most time we find ourselves wishing to be like and copying other people. No one can truly fulfil their potential if they keep wanting to be like others. You won't be happy with yourself if you keep wanting to act like other people. You won't appreciate your gifts and talents if you keep staring at other people’s gifts and talents. Most times,  we treat ourselves unfairly by focusing on other people’s strengths neglecting their weaknesses while we focus on our weeknesses neglecting our strengths. Most times, we victimise ourselves the way we look at ourselves. We often make ourselves feel bad because we are under performing whereas it is due to us comparing other people’s middle to our beginning.

What really matters is being yourself. No one is like you and no one can ever be like you. You can only be you and only you can be you. No matter how hard you try you will still be you. Surgery, makeups, dressing can change your appearance but it can't change you. No one can be you. You are unique. Other people can think similarly, but no one can think like you. Others can copy you but no one can be you. No one has your abilities. You are your own genius. You were made to beat records because records measure other people's limit but not your limit. Only you has the power to set your limit. Only you can make your record.

Be the best you can be because you deserve the best. Be your best and beat your best. Your best is limitless, your best is boundless. Your best can become the best. You can never be the best while copying others because they are doing their best so they will be the best. Be yourself then you can unlock impossibilities. Be yourself so you can unlock your best. Be yourself and you can become the best.

8 Things You Should Stop Dwelling On

Everything in life happens for a reason but most times we focus more on the negative part and dwell on it. We focus on what has happened or what the worse can happen and let them imprison us. Most times, we let these thoughts take control of our lives and prevent us from living the best life we ought to live. We dwell on things which in most of the time will never happen. These are 8 things you stop dwelling on.

Dwelling on, Thinking on

The Future

The future is the collection of the activities you carryout. Your future totally depends on what you do everyday. Don't waste your time dwelling on what the future holds, what will happen or what will not happen. Nothing will happen except you take responsibility for it. Most  of the time, what we worry the most about don't happen. Make your focus how you can make each day, each week, each month, each year productive because the future depends on it.

Fears

Fear is not real. It is a mirage that goes away once you act. A famous quote from Henry Ford says, "One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn't do". Anything you are scared of can be achieved.  Take a pause think about everything you have achieved from your first step, reading, riding a bicycle, passing an examination,  passing an interview, asking a lady out as a man or giving birth for a woman. All this things at a time you thought you couldn't do them but now you can.

Don't let your fears steal your dreams. Don't let your fears prevent you from having a better life. Don't let your fears make you regret what you could have achieved but you didn't because of your fears. The pain of regret hurts more than the pain of acting when in fear.

What Others feel about you

What others feel about you in most cases doesn't matter. Feelings are subject to change and basing your actions on feelings which in most times are temporary will limit your progress. What you think of yourself is what really matters because you are a reflection of your thought. You can't please everyone. There will always be a few if not many that will always draw you backward. So dwelling on what others feel about you won't make you move forward.

Heart break

A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you only to find out at the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go. When the door of happiness closes another opens but most often we look so long and dwell at the closed door that we don't see the door which has been open for us.

Heartbreaks hurt but dwelling on a heartbreak hurts even more. You can't let go if you keep holding on. You can't move on if you keep dwelling on the past. Don't let past events limit present and future events. Move on with your life because the more you dwell on it, the more emotionally attached you become.

Your Performance

Don't beat yourself up because things didn't go as planned. Don't be angry with yourself because you couldn't meet the perfect mark you had set for yourself. No one is perfect and trying to be perfect will lead to more hurt because you will keep setting standards which you won't meet. Don't dwell on perfection, instead, design each goal or activity to be a continuation of the previous one. Make your focus more on continuous development not instant perfection and in a short while, you will attain the mark in which you have set.

Starting something new

Doers rule the world not just thinkers. Sometimes, you just have to do what needs to be done. Don't forget the actual work that needs to be done because you spent your time over analysing. There will always one idea and  another but what matters is acting one or else at the end of the day, you will end up not doing anything. Always start each project by giving yourself reasons why you want to start the project because when the road gets tough, you will need the reasons to keeep you going.

What others say is impossible

Impossibility depends on your perspective. If you can't picture it, you won't feature in it. Everything that is possible today was once thought to be impossible. It all depends on you. Dwelling on what others say is an impossible task is will also make the task impossible for you to accomplish. As a man thinketh so is he. Believe you can and you are already fifty percent done. Don't let what other people say is impossible be your own definition of impossibility. Don't dwell on the negativity from other people.

How you feel about yourself

The way you feel about yourself matters because your feelings easily control your actions. If you think you are inferior to other people in the same room as you are, you begin to act inferior and people see you as being inferior. The more you value yourself, the more others value you. The better you present yourself, the better people accept you. Be confident because your confidence promotes you and if you can't promote yourself, no one will.

The Floor is Yours

There is still so much to be mentioned but it's time to hear from you. What other things do you think shouldn't be dwelled on for so long. Share your views and experience with us.

5 Causes of Emotional Hurt and How To Overcome It

When people say their heart is full of stone, it means their heart has been so hurt that they don't want to get hurt any longer. The human heart can't be healed like the human body. It takes God, forgiveness and personal effort to heal the human heart. God did not promise us that we will not get hurt. What God promises is that he will be with us during the time we get hurt. Life hurts, your mom, dad, family, friends have hurt you and you too have hurt people too. The older you grow the more you hurt you will become. These are 5 causes of emotional hurt and now to overcome it.

Don't make a permanent decision for a temporary emotion

1. Abuse

Abuse can come from any means. It can be from parents, family,  friends,  ex lover. Abuse makes you create a wall around your heart to prevent other people from hurting you. What you must see is that the protective wall serves two purposes: It prevents further hurt and it also pushes away people who want to help you. It takes a forgiving heart, being patient and determination to heal the heart of someone who has been abused because being abused, especially during childhood days, lowers self esteem. Indulging in habits like consumption of excessive alcohol, taking hard drugs, prostitution or womanising so say the least won't let the memory go away. What you are doing is only a temporary relief and taking a temporary relief will result to more hurt.

The first step in overcoming this cause of hurt is understanding that you were hurt because of the weakness of someone else and then realising what you have lost during the time of your grieve and what you will still loose if you continue working this mindset. Your future and happiness is not defined by your past. Life is too short to grieve throughout it. What has happened has happened. Your heart have been hurt but its left for you pick the pieces back together.

2. Rejection

Being rejected causes emotional hurt and leads to segregation. It makes you isolate yourself, not wanting to associate with other people. It makes you to be afraid of yourself because it empowers your fear by bringing flash backs of how you have been rejected in time past and how you felt when you were rejected. Rejection makes it difficult to love someone because you don't want to loose your guard. You don't want a repetition of your past experience. This makes you a slave to the fear of being rejected.

In order to overcome the emotional hurt caused by rejection, you have to let go of the past. Holding on to the past is living in the past. Protecting yourself is good but you are doing it in the wrong way. The best way to protect yourself is to surround yourself with people who love you. If you are in a relationship with someone who is still experiencing emotional hurt caused by past rejection, all you have to do is to show love. Make the person see that love exists.

3. Unanswerd prayers

When you pray and you don't see result, you can be emotionally hurt. Don't get worked up and make yourself feel insignificant because of your unanswered prayers. Don't kill your belief and make yourself rebel against what you stood for.

Everything happens for a reason. Trials come to make us stronger. Progress is most often disguised as obstacles. Don't loose hope. Don't loose faith because the problem appears greater than what you can handle. God will never make you pass through challenges greater than your ability. Be patient your dawn is in the horizon.

4. Failure

When you have tried so hard and you do not succeed hurts emotionally. Failure creates a sense of uselessness in the mind. It creates negativity and makes you care less. It results to you not believing in one's ability due to the hurt caused by having no results to show for your efforts.

The only way to overcome emotional hurt caused by failure is to succeed. Failure is a step in the journey to success. You can't pull down a building with a single punch. You have to reinforce yourself and then try again.

5. Disbelief

When you do your best to make someone believe you and they don't, it hurts emotionally. It hurts when you explain yourself to someone and the person isn't convinced with what you have said. Disbelief makes you not to explain yourself or give reasons for future actions.

You will never be able to please everyone. Not everybody will ever understand you. Work for a cause not for applause, live your life to express yourself not to impress, don't strive to make your presence noticed just make your absence felt. Be yourself, no photocopy is worth more than the original. Make honesty and integrity be the foundation of all your relationships because there can't be disbelief when there is honesty and integrity.

After Thoughts

Overcoming emotional hurt is ninety percent completed if you believe you can do it. Your determination takes the other part. Share your success story of overcoming and emotional hurt and if you are still experiencing such, feel free to contact us, we will like to help you out.

4 Things holding you back from moving on with your life

Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live. -Dorothy Thompson.
4 Things holding you back from moving on with your life

You have decided that you are not gaining anything from your relationship, friendship or job and you have also decided that you will quit. Months have passed since your decision and you still find yourself at the same place, you haven't finalized your decision. These are 4 things holding you back from moving on.

1.   Fear of the unknown

One of the greatest fear which limits human is the fear of the unknown. This is being scared of what the future holds for you. Winning the battle against this fear holds the key to move on with your life. One of the ways I conquer this fear is me trusting my creator; God, and me also putting my best and believing for the best result in what am about to do.

One of the things that intensify this fear which I have previously experienced in my life and I have also seen in people's life is past or present failure. Failure has a way of enriching this fear. For example, because you past and present relationships failed doesn't mean you won't get married. It might only mean there is something you need to change in your attitude. Failure is fatal when you consider it final. Move on with your life, forget past failures and unlock your true potential.

2.   Too addicted to let go

4 Ways To Increase Your Experience of Happiness

In this Yuletide season, a season filled with love and happiness which we are meant to feel and share but in a way there would be something that would stop us from having that desired/deserved happiness, and they are;

happiness experience, happy, improve happiness

1. Stop spending time with the wrong people

Remember this saying; "show me your friends and I'll tell you the kind of person you are". This saying is a true because the kind of things you hear and surround yourself with shapes and direct your life. When you spend time with people who reduce your aspirations and don't add positive value to your life then tell me, how do you want to experience the love and happiness you are meant to experience. Staying with the wrong people will pass the wrong message and omen to you. The wrong people will always think negatively and say uninspiring things even if what they are saying is right to them, but to you it will always feel wrong because they are not the right things you need at that particular moment.

2. Stop running from your problems

True happiness comes from within. If we truly want to feel that happiness from within us, we need to confront any challenges that is preventing us from being happy. People are used to giving a series of plans; plan A, plan B, plan C and the list continues. They thereby neglect the plan A because there is a problem with plan A. I'm I saying having other plans is not good; No. Let's just think this way, if our plan B and C turns out to have the same challenge plan A is having are we going to keep looking for a plan D and E until we are left with no other plan, why not face the problem once and for all rather than cutting corners and running from them. Happiness comes from a sense of fulfillment and achievement . When our problems have been solved and our mission accomplished that is when we feel the joy and happiness from within us (Read 5 Facts About Life You Might Regret Not Admitting Sooner)

3. Stop trying to buy happiness

Frequently, we do hear this; "money is good but it can not buy happiness". This is a blatant truth. We are in a world in which what most people think is purchasing a car, jewelry, house e.t.c for themselves or their loved ones will make them happy. What they fail to understand is that they are only purchasing a limited source of happiness. Trying to purchase happiness is like pouring water into a basket; no amount of water can fill the basket. Similarly, there would still be more things to buy to purchase if you're planning on buying happiness. Denying yourself just to please other people thinking making them love you will make you happy will eventually lead to frustration. By denying yourself of being happy, you prevent yourself from being happy because you keep forcing yourself to be what you are not by pulling up a fake character.

Nothing pays better than being oneself and letting people love us for who you really are. By that we experience true and lasting happiness that will be generated not the one that is bought.

 4. Stop being scared to make a mistake

Withholding ourself from making mistake by being too mistake conscious is we procrastinating our happiness. Am I saying we should make deliberate mistakes or constant mistakes, No. We shouldn't be scared to put out our neck and take a leap. When we make a mistake we shouldn't worry too much about the mistake, because some of the most beautiful things we create in life comes from the changes we make after failure and that is what brings the joy eventually.

Stephen Charnock says " as the image on the seal is stamped upon the wax, so the thoughts of the heart are printed upon the actions". When our actions is based on not making mistakes and being perfect our failure is eminent, but when our actions is based on trials and less worry on mistakes then our happiness and success is guaranteed, because happiness is a thing of the heart.

Be Inspired

"The Beginning is always now"

1.  Loosen your grip.

Starting now, let go before you squeeze too tight.  Take a deep breath.  When the dust settles and you can once again see the forest for the trees, take the next step forward.  You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going every single second to be headed somewhere great.  Everything in life is in perfect order whether you understand it yet or not.  It just takes some time to connect all the dots.

20 Things Life Is Too Short To Tolerate

Happiness

You don’t have to settle, it’s simply a choice you make every day.  If you feel like you’re running in place there’s a good chance you’re tolerating things you shouldn’t be.  It’s time to reclaim your life.

Starting now, stop tolerating…

People who bring you down. – Relationships should help you, not hurt you.  Spend time with nice people who are smart, driven and like-minded.

A work environment or career field you hate. – Don’t settle on the first or second career field you dabble in.  Keep searching.  Eventually you will find work you love to do.  If you catch yourself working hard and loving every minute of it, don’t stop.  You’re on to something big.  Because hard work ain’t hard when you concentrate on your passions.

Your own negativity. – Be aware of your mental self-talk.  We all talk silently to ourselves in our heads, but we aren’t always conscious of what we’re saying or how it’s affecting us.  Start listening to your thoughts.  If you hear negative thoughts, stop and replace them with positive thoughts.

Unnecessary miscommunication. – Say what you mean.  Mean what you say.  Speak clearly.  Ask questions.  Clarify things until you understand them.

A disorganized living and working space. – Clear the clutter.  Get rid of stuff you don’t use.  Read David Allen’s book Getting Things Done for some practical organizational guidance.

Your own tardiness. – Get up 30 minutes earlier so you don’t have to rush around like a mad man.  That 30 minutes will help you avoid speeding tickets, tardiness and other unnecessary headaches.

Pressure to fit in with the crowd. – Oftentimes, the only reason others want you to fit in is that once you do they can ignore you and go about their business.  Don’t conform.  Be you, because that’s the only person you can be.

An unhealthy body. – Your health is your life.  Don’t let it go.  Eat right, exercise and get an annual physical check-up.  The 4-Hour Body is an insightful and entertaining read on this topic.

Fear of change. – Life is change.  Every day is different.  Every day is a new beginning and a new ending.  Embrace it and make the best of it.

All work and no play. – Enjoy yourself and have a little fun while you can.  If you’re smiling, you’re doing something right.

People or beauty ads that make you feel inadequate. – Good looks attracts the eyes.  Personality attracts the heart.  Be proud to be you.  You are already beautiful.

Not getting enough sleep. – A tired mind is rarely productive.

Doing the same exact thing over and over again. – You are the sum of your life experiences.  The more you experience, the more interesting your life story gets.

Personal greed. – Don’t let greed and deceit get the best of you.  Greed will bury even the lucky eventually.

A mounting pile of debt. – Always live well below your means.  Don’t buy stuff you don’t need.  Always sleep on big purchases.  Create a budget and savings plan and stick to them.  Read I Will Teach You To Be Rich.

Dishonesty. – Living a life of honesty creates peace of mind, and peace of mind is priceless.  Period.  Don’t be dishonest and don’t put up with people who are.

Infidelity. – Intimate relationships are a sacred bond – a circle of trust.  If both parties aren’t 100% onboard the relationship isn’t worth fighting for.

An unsafe home. – If you don’t feel safe at home you’ll never feel safe anywhere.  Build a loving household in a safe area that you are proud to call ‘home.’

Being unprepared. – Life is unpredictable.  And there’s a big difference between being scared and being prepared.  Always be prepared.

Inaction. – Either you’re going to take action and seize new opportunities or someone else will.  You can’t change anything or make any sort of progress by sitting back and thinking about it.

And remember, you only live once, but if you live it right once is enough.

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that anticipates happiness, success and favorable outcomes in every situation or action you do.

The thoughts get registered in your subconscious mind and you start taking action to create favorable change. A positive outlook can help you to cope better with stressful situations and can change your life for the better.

Listening to your inner voice or instincts is one of the most common ways to develop positive thinking. Whenever any negative thoughts enter your mind, try to replace it with a constructive one. 10 Things To Stop Caring About Today

effectiveness, caring about
Every day is a new beginning.  But in life, sometimes you have to stop before you can truly begin.  So starting today…

Stop caring about everyone’s opinion of you.

For the most part, what other people think and say about you doesn’t matter.  When I was younger I let the opinions of my high school and early college peers influence my decisions.  And at times they steered me away from ideas and goals I strongly believed in.  I realize now, many years later, that this was a foolish way to live, especially when I consider that nearly all of these people whose opinions I cared so much about are no longer a part of my life.

Unless you’re trying to make a great first impression (job interview, first date, etc.), don’t let the opinions of others stand in your way.  What they think and say about you isn’t important.  What is important is how you feel about yourself.  Read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Stop caring about being politically correct.

I had a discussion with a friend yesterday about censorship and how speaking a certain way simply to please others contributes to the loss of one’s true inner voice.  During the discussion I watched him closely, and I could actually pinpoint the heated moment when he was about to give me a piece of his mind, but stopped himself.  It was so obvious!  So I called him out on it.  “You just censored yourself, didn’t you?”  He laughed and nodded.

Everyone has this little watchdog inside their head.  It’s always there watching you.  It was born and raised by your family, friends, coworkers, bosses and society at large, and its sole purpose is to watch you and make sure you stay in line.  And once you become accustomed to the watchdog’s presence, you begin to think his opinion of what’s acceptable and unacceptable are absolute truths.  But the watchdog’s views are not truths, they’re just opinions – forceful opinions that have the potential to completely brainwash you of your own opinions if you aren’t careful.

Remember, the watchdog is just a watchdog, he just watches.  He can’t actually control you.  He can’t do anything about it if you decide to rise up and go against the grain.

No, you should not start randomly cussing and acting like a fool.  But you must say what you need to say when you need to say it.  If it isn’t politically correct, so what.

Don’t censor yourself.  Speak the truth.  Your truth.

Stop caring about looking a certain way.

There is no right way to dress or right way to wear your hair.  No, I’m not saying to you should dress like a clown simply to rebel either.  Everyone who purposely tries to look different ends up looking the same.

Be you, just the way you are, in the unique way only you know how.  Wear clothes and styles you feel comfortable wearing.  Dress the way YOU dress.

You’re a one of a kind.  Trying to look like someone else is a waste of your own beauty.  In this crazy world that’s trying to make you like everyone else, find the courage to keep being your awesome self.

Stop caring about what everyone else wants for you.

Unfortunately, just before you take your first step on the righteous journey to pursue your dreams, people around you, even the ones who deeply care for you, will usually give you awful advice.  It’s not because they have evil intentions.  It’s because they don’t understand the big picture – what your dreams, passions and life goals mean to you.  They don’t understand that, to you, the reward is worth the risk.

So they try to protect you by shielding you from the possibility of failure, which, in effect, also shields you from the possibility of making your dreams a reality.

As our friend Steve Jobs says:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else's life.  Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.  Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice, heart and intuition.  They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary.”

Stop caring about the boundaries others set up.

No matter how much progress you make there will always be the people who insist that whatever you’re trying to do is impossible.  Or they may incessantly suggest that the idea or dream as a whole is utterly ridiculous because nobody really cares.  When you come across these people, don’t try to reason with them.  Instead, forget that they exist.  They will only waste your time and energy.

Try what you want to try.  Go where you want to go.  Follow your own intuition.  Don’t accept false choices.  Don’t let others put a cage around you.  Definitely don’t listen to the watchdog.

Whenever somebody discredits you and tells you that you can’t do something, keep in mind that they are speaking from within the boundaries of their own limitations.  Ignore them and press on.  Read The Success Principles.

Stop caring about what everyone else has.

When you catch yourself comparing yourself to a colleague, neighbor, friend, or someone famous, stop!  Realize that you are different, with different strengths – strengths these other people don’t possess.  Take a moment to reflect on all the awesome abilities you have and to be grateful for all the good things in your life.

The problem with many of us is that we think we’ll be happy when we reach a certain level in life — a level we see others operating at – your boss with her corner office, that friend of a friend who owns a mansion on the beach, etc.  Unfortunately, it takes awhile before you get there, and when you get there you might have a new destination in mind.

Instead, appreciate where you are and what you have right now.  Try comparing yourself to those who have less, those who are dealing with tragedy, and those who are struggling to survive. Hopefully it opens your eyes to all the things you should be grateful for.
Stop caring about the imaginary state of perfect.

Perfect is the enemy of good.

Many of us are perfectionists in our own right.  I know I am at times.  We set high bars for ourselves and put our best foot forward.  We dedicate copious amounts of time and attention to our work to maintain our high personal standards.  Our passion for excellence drives us to run the extra mile, never stopping, never relenting.  And this dedication towards perfection undoubtedly helps us to achieve results…  So long as we don’t get carried away.

But what happens when we do get carried away with perfectionism?

We become disgruntled and discouraged when we fail to meet the (impossibly high) standards we set for ourselves, making us reluctant to take on new challenges or even finish tasks we’ve already started.  Our insistence on dotting every ‘I’ and crossing every ‘T’ breeds inefficiency, causing major delays, stress overload and subpar results.

True perfectionists have a hard time starting things and an even harder time finishing them… always.  I have a friend who has wanted to start a graphic design business for several years.  But she hasn’t yet.  Why?  When you sift through her extensive list of excuses it comes down to one simple problem:  She is a perfectionist.  Which means she doesn’t, and never will, think she’s good enough at graphic design to own and operate her own graphic design business.

Remember, the real world doesn’t reward perfectionists.  It rewards people who get things done.  And the only way to get things done is to be imperfect 99% of the time.  Only by wading through years of practice and imperfection can we begin to achieve momentary glimpses of the perfection.

So make a decision.  Take action.  Learn from the outcome.  And repeat this method over and over and over again in all walks of life.  Also, check out Too Perfect.  It’s an excellent read on conquering perfectionism.

Stop caring about being right all the time.

We all dance to the beat of a different drum.  There are few absolute ‘rights’ and ‘wrongs’ in the world.  What’s right for you may be wrong for me, and vise versa.  People need to live their lives their way – the way that’s right for them.

When it comes to life choices and opinions, not much is worth fighting about.  Step back from arguments with your spouse, family members or neighbors.  When you feel anger surging up and you want to yell that vulgar remark on tip of your tongue, just close your mouth and walk away.  Let mind calm down.  You don’t have to be right or win an argument.

Instead, open your mind to new ideas and opinions.  Don’t just concentrate on what others are doing, spend time figuring out why they are doing what they’re doing.

Stop caring about mistakes.

Mistakes teach you important lessons.  The biggest mistake you can make is doing nothing because you’re too scared to make a mistake.  So don’t hesitate – don’t doubt yourself.  In life, it’s rarely about getting a chance; it’s about taking a chance.  You’ll never be 100% sure it will work, but you can always be 100% sure doing nothing won’t work.  Most of the time you just have to go for it!

And no matter how it turns out, it always ends up just the way it should be.  Either you succeed or you learn something.  Win-Win.  Remember, if you never act, you will never know for sure, and you will be left standing in the same spot forever.

Stop caring about things you can’t control.

Some forces are out of your control.  Accept this fact of life.  Wasting your time, talent and emotional energy on things that are beyond your control is a recipe for frustration, misery and stagnation.

The smartest thing you can do to compensate for the things you can’t control is adjusting your attitude.  Your attitude has a profound effect on your overall potential.  Consuming yourself with the negative aspects of a circumstance gets nothing productive accomplished.  But if you instead look at the circumstance productively and positively, coming from the standpoint of “What’s my next best move?” you put yourself back in the driver’s seat.

Bottom line:  As Maria Robinson once said, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”  You can’t change what happened, but you can change how you react to it.  If you awake every morning with the thought that something wonderful will happen in your life today, and you pay close attention, you’ll often find that you’re right.  The opposite is also true.  The choice is yours to make.

7 Effective Ways Happy People Think

happiness, happy people “Happiness is when what you think, what you say,
and what you do are in harmony.”
―Mahatma Gandhi

Happiness is the key to living a fulfilled and meaningful life. It also affects the quality of life we live. Below are seven (7) effective ways happy people think.

 1.  Feeling privileged and satisfied to be alive.

If you’re reading this, congratulations, you’re ALIVE!  And if you can’t find a reason to smile about that, you’ll have an awfully tough time finding a better reason to do so.

Time spent living is time worth appreciating.  You are able to see the sunrise and the sunset.  You are able to hear birds sing and waves crash.  You can walk outside and feel the breeze through your hair and the sun’s warmth on your skin.  When you make the most out of what you have it turns out being a lot more than you ever imagined.

A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset.  When you wake up, take a second to think about what a privilege it is to simply be alive and healthy.  Breathe onto the bathroom mirror, just to see how amazing your breath looks.  The moment you start acting like life is a blessing, I assure you it will start to feel like one.

2.  Believing in the possibility of a better tomorrow.

What you believe determines who you become.  If the thoughts running through your mind are pure, positive and empowering, you will create positive and empowering beliefs about yourself and about life.  In turn, your actions, habits and daily routines will be a reflection of these thoughts and beliefs.

Sometimes you may catch yourself and wonder why you haven’t dropped all your positive ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to achieve.  Yet you must keep them, because deep down, in spite of everything, you believe that people are still good at heart and that life still contains a touch of magic.

You have to believe that hope is stronger than fear.  That imagination is more influential than public opinion.  That dreams are more powerful than today’s reality.  That determination always triumphs over experience.  That laughter is the best cure for grief.  And above all, you have to believe that love is stronger than any negative force in the world.

3.  Knowing deep down that every step is worth it.

Through every life experience, especially those that force you to look fear and adversity in the face, you will gain strength, courage and confidence.  Stop when you must, take a deep breath and say to yourself, “I am living through this and I am still OK.  I can take the next thing that comes my way.”

Make a pact with yourself and do the thing you once thought you couldn’t do.  Take another step, even when you feel too worn out or tired.  Find a reason to laugh, even when you’re trying not to cry.  Trust yourself, even when your mind second-guesses your heart.  Dance, even when others refuse to hear the music.  Dream, even if you’re afraid of what they might bring.  Open the door of opportunity in front of you, even when you have no idea what’s behind it.

Every step and experience is what makes you the person you are now.  Without this experience, you are an empty page, a blank journal, an unsung lyric.  What makes you ALIVE is your willingness to live through today’s challenges and then hold your head up high tomorrow with hope and tenacity.

4.  Appreciating the beauty in all the small things.

Subtract the obvious so you can see the meaningful.

Rediscover the sensitivity of your childhood eyes.  The eyes that saw life as it is – a beautiful compilation of tiny lives, each lived one at a time like snapshots in a family photo album.  That saw beauty in flowers and rainbows and wild animals.  That marveled at fireflies and sunsets and starry nights.  That let you dream every instant with your eyes wide open.

See yourself sitting right where you are, breathing, moving your limbs, and appreciating this chance to experience this moment.  If a child of two can see the beauty in it, why can’t you?

5.  Feeling good enough.

Believe in yourself!  Have faith in your abilities!  Without a humble and reasonable confidence in your own abilities you cannot be effective or happy.  Know that you are good enough, smart enough, beautiful enough, and strong enough.  Do not derive your sense of self-worth from what you own, who you know, where you live or what you look like.  Your self-worth is a reflection of who YOU are and how YOU choose to live.

Above all, don’t compare yourself to anyone else.  If you somehow feel ‘better’ than someone you’re comparing yourself to, it gives you an unhealthy sense of superiority.  If, on the other hand, you feel ‘worse’ than someone you’re comparing yourself to, you usually discredit all of the important progress you’ve made.  The bottom line is that the majority of the time this type of social comparison doesn’t stem from a healthy place.  If you feel called to compare yourself to someone, compare yourself to an earlier version of yourself.

6.  Consciously detaching and living in the present.

The greatest step towards a life of positivity is objectivity – experiencing something fully and then learning to let go and move onward.  The key is to accept that everything is changing.  Each moment of your life is unlike any other.  To live each one to the fullest, you must learn to be in the moment, fully, and then step out of it.  This is detachment.

Take any emotional feeling – love for a significant other, or grief over a lost family member, or fear and pain from a deadly illness.  If you hold back on your emotions and you don’t allow yourself to go all the way through them, you can never get to the point of being detached from them.  In other words, if you spend all your energy being afraid of feeling your true emotions – the vulnerability that love, sincerity and acceptance entails – you will be forever stuck.

But by throwing yourself into these emotions, by allowing yourself to fully embrace them to the point where you’re effectively in over your head, you leave no emotion abandoned or question lingering in your mind.  You know what love is.  You know what grief is.  You know what fear is.  And only when you know these things can you say, “I’m OK.  I have experienced this.  I know what this emotion feels like, and now I need to detach from this emotion and move on with my life.”  (Angel and I cover this in detail in the Adversity and Happiness chapters of 1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently.)

7.  Embracing change.

Living a positive life hinges on your ability to accept the fact that everything is constantly moving forward, away from everything that previously existed.  Not only do you have to emotionally detach from the past, but you also have to willingly thrust yourself forward into the unknown.  You have to open yourself to trying new things, especially those that you may previously never have thought of doing, or had been too hesitant to attempt.  This is how you open doors of opportunity for positive growth.

So many people live within the confines of unhappy situations and yet refuse to take the initiative to change their circumstances.  They are conditioned to believe that the only choice is the current choice because it’s the life they know.  Their comfort zone blinds them from the truth – that nothing is more damaging to the human spirit than a mind that resists progress and change.

All of your personal growth and much of your joy in life will come from your encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater commitment than to embrace an endlessly changing horizon.
The floor is yours…
